Happy New Year!

Here is wishing all ikOlam friends, young and old, a very happy and prosperous new year. This year, for several reasons, I was hard pressed for time. So I could not design my card elaborately. I believe there is still something in it.

Top left - I have two stellated polygons, one inside the other. The outer one is an icosagon (20-sided polygon) whose third vertices are joined to get a single line stellation. There are two more single line stellations for this which can be obtained by joining the seventh and ninth vertices. The one inside this is a stellation for a dodecagon which has twelve sides. Here every fifth vertex is joined to get a single line stellation. This is the only single line stellation for this polygon. Under the 2012 stellation patterns is the earth with people holding hands on the surface.

Bottom right - This is a 12 x 20 dotted rangOli with 2012 inscribed in the gaps. Normally a 12x20 pattern will have four lines as 4 is a common factor for both 12 and 20. But since I made all those gaps to get 2012, I have only two lines here. I don't know whether a one-line pattern could be drawn by a different choice of gaps.

The message is the last line in the daily benediction - lOkA samstAh sukhinO bhavantu, meaning "may the world prosper". Enjoy!

Regards! - mOhana

PS: I have submitted the two patterns in a bigger size as separate rangOlis.
