Glimpses of Kerala
In Kerala Avani(chingam) month is welcome after 3 months of rainy season!
Onam, the most celebrated festival of Kerala falls in this month.
I have been to Kerala many times and several things facinate me each time.
Let me come out with one by one and I expect comments from all of you.
It was in 1992 that our family travelled thro' Kerala by car from Ernakulam to Kutralam.
Famous film Roja was just releasd and we played those songs, esp. 'chinna chinna aasai',
repeatedly during that drive. Oh! It was heavenly to travel by car in drizzle, through the western ghats full of pepper, teak and arcanut estates. This type of greenary I've not seen anywhere. No doubt Keralites proudly call it as 'God's Own Country'!
At the end of the trip, the driver from Kerala wanted our Roja cassette for himself as he was so inspired by the songs! Long live ARR!

At last, we have somebody in ikolam to provide us with information about Kerala!
I was always very fascinated with anything and everything that had to do with Kerala. May be because of the fact that my best friend Renu (from my school in Delhi)was from that state. Her parents were from Kottayam. There were only 2 south indian girls in my class. And ever since those days, I had always wanted to visit Kerala. That dream hasn't come true yet.
So, Jayaji, I, for one would be learning a lot from your posts, and hopefully, would be able to plan a trip to Kerala DEFINITELY in my next trip to India. (Mani, you better not miss my all caps "definitely'-that little part of the message was for you).
