Rangoli designs and kolams

iKolam is a website dedicated primarily to the art of kolams and rangolis.

Kolam is an ancient folk art. It is hand drawn at the main entrance to a home, in most parts of South India, and in some South-asian countries such as Malaysia and Singapore. The traditional medium used to make a kolam is rice flour. Other synthetic white powders and dyes are also used to make kolams.

We, at iKolam were the first to demonstrate the drawing of a kolam, via digital animations, in 2003. Since then, we have built a strong community of kolam artists and fans from around the world. We conduct many contests several times an year, and publish members' rangolis on a daily basis.
